Qualifications :

Position: PROGRAM MANAGER
Location: V System Composites, Anaheim

General Purpose: This is a key VSC position for the management of major development and production programs with VSC's top customers. The position is accountable to VSC senior management for the overall success of the program. The Program Manager is responsible for managing the cost, schedule, and technical execution of specific customer contracts from inception to completion. This position is responsible for all essential programmatic functions including: estimation of the scope of effort and associated proposal preparation; preparation of a program plan including the project schedule and budgets; assessing program risks and implementing appropriate risk mitigations; serving as the primary contact to the customer; preparing and leading customer briefings;
developing follow-on business opportunities.

The Lay-Up Technician position provides touch labor for support of lay up and laboratory work requiring basic direction on a daily basis.

Position:  Quality Assurance Engineer
Location:  Vanguard, San Diego


Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks within the realm of Mission Assurance. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assists in inspections of received materials for stock or production usage in assistance to Receiving personnel. 
  • Assists in inspections of sub-assembly and final assembly hardware in accordance with engineering requirements. 
  • Applies GD&T practices in the interpretation and review of engineering requirements with consideration towards producibility and capacity.
  • Comfortable with using hand tools and measurement devices to accept/reject critical dimensions on hardware. Familiar with calibration
    requirements and shop floor surveillances. 
  • Intimate with Non-Conformance systems.
  • MRB familiarity including MRB Crib usage.
  • Creates non-conformance reports for non-conforming material, derives root causes and ensures implementation of effective corrective actions.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001:2000 guidelines and supplier surveys, inspections and vendor ratings.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.  Assists in generation
    of End Item Data Packs. 
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process
    improvements to management.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Acts as lead for technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced with clean-room operations, configuration management practices and familiar with working in an ISO 9001/2000 environment. 
  • Experienced with composite manufacturing, including layup, assembly, oven cures and testing.
  • Experienced in GD&T, drawing interpretations and tolerances. 
  • Skilled in hand measurement tool usage. 
  • Experienced in non-conformance systems, MRB, root cause and corrective action investigation and documentation.
  • Analytically synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data.  

Education/Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 6-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for supplier management of the companys critical suppliers.  The Senior Buyer will issue Request for Quotes, evaluate supplier proposals and work with the program team to select the best value supplier.  The Senior Buyer will negotiate price, terms, and schedules.  Regularly interacts with suppliers, program team and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others.  Follows up on placed orders to assure timely delivery and product shipment.  Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.  Communicate information through the use of written or verbal reports; excel spreadsheets, and correspondence to superiors, peers, other affected corporate functions, and supplier.  Support proposal pricing as required.
 
Education/Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of composites procurement experience in the Aerospace industry. 
  • A bachelors degree with a focus in business, economics or technical curriculum related to assigned commodities. Specific purchasing experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation
  • Quality systems awareness
  • Negotiating skills and demonstrated solid decision making skills

Position:  CNC Programmer/Operator
Location:  Vanguard, San Diego
 
This is a full time position to operate computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems). Operate computing equipment to perform job tasks (e.g., upload/download programs, create/edit CNC programs). Knowledge of the coordinate system to identify multiple axes (e.g., X,Y,Z). Use various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools. Sequence and layout own work and perform any bench work necessary to finish parts to quality specifications. Use various jigs and fixtures to orient parts into pre-defined positions for part fabrication and assembly. Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures and machinability of composites materials (e.g., cutting speed and feed rates for material being machined). Set-up, program and operate CNC routing and milling machines.
 
Essential Job Duties
:

  • Performs typical machine shop operations to support the trimming of Space Flight hardware.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks:  milling, drilling,taping, de-burring, and all bench operations.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.

Position: PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

The Principal Investigator is responsible for bidding, winning and executing research and development programs that advance the component and subsystem technologies consistent with the Space Power, Optics and Thermal Products Business Area goals and strategies.  The PI also acts as a program manager for R&D and pilot production programs, managing the cost, schedule, and technical execution from inception to completion.
